Wednesday, October 06, 2004 ![]() NEWater plant visit!
Today our class and some other class went to the NEWater plant visitors' center! It was a great excursion, one of the very few i did enjoy and one of the most educational of all. It was truly a great NE eduational excursion as i gained alot of insight, on our water supply and governments pragmatic approach in seeking new ways to increase our water supply for our increasing needs. When we got there, it was somewhere near Changi. the visitors center was really great in terms of design and its friendly approach in welcoming visitors to the visitor's center. When you get there youll be greeted with really nice looking fountains with koi fish. When you get to the main area, youll then be greeted by this ambasaddor, called WAVE on the plasma screen. Its really professional done and world class standard. The layout of the whole exhibition reminds me of when i was in australia. I went to this science and technology museum. Really fantastic, really huge. It showcases some of the key technological turning points the world experienced, throughout human history. You start with the stone ages, then on to ancient civiliasations and then the fall of rome, and then the dark ages, on to medieval ages, and its invention of gunpowder, paper, and some machinery used during that time. After that on to the industrial age, where youll see lots of machinery, goes on the other areas, like medicine and onto flight, and then it gets more modern, and then onto age of computer and IT and then lastly, the space age. The space age is the most interesting. Anyway back to the excursion. The visitors center has many areas. First we went to the main area, where youll be greeted, and then onto a theater, almost looked like cinema. We watched a very short clip on what is NEWater and how its being processed, briefly and also what impact does it have to us Singaporeans. And then we went to another area where we played some interactive games on plasma screen. That was really fun and insightful. After that we went to take alook at the plant itself! the plant itself was really an eye opener. We get to see all the big pipes and its processes and also some of the equipment used in the plant. The whole journey from start to finish took about less than an hour and a half. After that we had back to school and finally home...
