Light Side, Dark Side... which path will i take?

Finally, after months of anticipation, the official site of Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic, The Sith Lords, (KOTOR II) is up and running!

The game is slated for release on the X Box, on November of this year, and on the PC, February 2005. Argh!! February 2005!!? Why? Why is there such a large gap in the different console release!?

I really cannot wait for this game to be released. Which path shall i take this time, The Dark Side, or The Light Side? Ive played the first installment of the game and it ROCKS! Best RPG ever! One of the best game ive ever played in terms of storyline, character development and a diversified plot with numerous subplots. And for an added bonus, you can choose which side to take, the Dark Side, or the Light side?

In the first installment of the game, i played twice, one of each side and i must say, its trully a wonderful experience, being able to be witness 2 different points of view of a storyline. Crush the evil Sith, or Crush the Jedi Council... The decision to choose which side is not made early in the game. Throughout the game, watever deeds you have done, will contribute whether youve done good, or bad. You can switch sides in the middle of the game and at anytime. See your character's profile and appearance look sinister and pale, or glorious and wise. Slowly, youll see a shift in the direction youre going in the storyline and youll barely noticed it. Fantastic game...

The first game has over 60 hours gameplay and +++ if you do many subplots. i thoroughly enjoy every single minute of this game.

It came to surprise for me that this game will ultimately be the best game ive played. Having being developed by Bioware, makers of Neverwinter Nights and its subsidiary expansions, ive enjoyed playing Neverwinter Nights and its fantasy settings. It was one of the best Forgotten Realms campaign setting that ive played. Multiplayer features were top notch and i enjoyed playing online with friends from other countries.

While enjoying this game, i came across KOTOR I being developed by bioware too. I wasnt paying too much attention to this game previously because Neverwinter Nights was the rage at that time. So i told myself, what the heck, this game is being made by bioware, and bioware developed really good fantasy RPG games, with classic titles like the Baldur's Gate Series. So i looked around, got to know about the game. When i got to know a little more about the game, i was getting alittle interested. At that time it was about less than a month before the game is being released and i haven decide properly if im gonna really buy this game, much less if im gonna enjoy this game because firstly, it is RPG, but its in a Star "Warsy" setting. Im not a fan of star wars. Secondly, graphics were good, but not up to my expectation of being a solid RPG.

When i bought this game, boy was i wrong... I was hooked! The game was released on November 2003, that was right after O levels. Perfect timing. I ve got loads of time in my hands, so thats why i bought this game. I played virtually non-stop for i think about 3 to 4 weeks. (mind you... 60 hours of roleplay is very long.) I even got ill during the course of play because my biological clock was severely shifted, after playing until the wee hours of the morning in such a short notice.

I played and played and the game was wonderful. Its like youre watching a movie! Except that its 60 hours long. Why i said its being played like a movie? Firstly, the storyline is engaging. You get to control what kind of story you like to craft. Secondly, the character are soo believable and real. Thirdly, conversation between character are carefully and fully scripted and VOICED! Meaning that they hired professional actors to lend their voice talents that drive the emotional aspects of the characters that were in the game. Over 50,000 lines of scripts were voiced! ( you can imagine how big this game was... 4 cds, totalling close to 4gb just to install) but it was worth it, and i listen every single line that was available till the end. Thats why i said its like a movie the characters were like acting and the cutscenes were wonderfully done.

Besides this game that im anticipating (very highly. Hopefully the expectations live up to its predecessors) there are other games that im waiting to come out to. I dont play that many games in truth, and my selection of games are very picky and selective. First of all, my friend is going to buy Halo 2, which is coming out in november of this year. I will then be able to play on OUR X box. Halo, the first installment is really good. Though i dont have a chance to complete the game ( my friend did, because the x box was at his house) i dont mind at all. Also coming out this november is Prince of Persia, Warrior Within. A mixture of adventure, action and puzzle with gorgeous graphics, since i played the first game, it was one of the most beautifully crafted game in terms of graphic ( and the prince looked handsome too even though he is 3D.. LOL!) other games include games like Neverwinter Nights 2, slated for 2006, next year. Dragon Age, another new RPG being developed by Bioware, with a release date that is still unknown, possibly in 2007. Also another adventure game which is seriously underate and unknown to many because it was not made in the US is The Longest Journey II, Dreamfall. This adventure game will be released in late 2005. The first game, which i happened to come across accidentally, blew my mind away at this beautifully crafted piece of game with amazing and original storyline. I cannot really tell you what is the storyline because it is soo complex.

Well that wraps it up at what im gonna say about games. stay tune, while i talk about the latest TV series that are not shown in Singapore's broadcasting channels but it one of the most promising series yet!

The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-time

"Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the counries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the colour yellow.

Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, fifteen-year old Christopher is autistic and everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning for him. He lives on patterns, rules, and a diagram kept in his pocket. Then one day, a neighbour's dog, Wellington, is killed and his carefully constructed universe is threatened. Christopher sets out to solve the murder with style of his favourite (logical) detective, Sherlock Holmes. What follows makes for a novel that is deeply funny, poignant and fascinating in its portrayal of a person whose curse and blessings are a mind that perceives the world entrely literally."

Finally, ive finished reading this book, that i bought a couple of weeks ago and junction 8, out of sheer impulse. I picked this book to read because it was an international bestseller and its pretty thin to begin with. Furthermore, i knew about this book through amazon.com and ive noticed that this book has been on the bestseller list for many many weeks and it comes a surprise that such a thin book, no more that 200 pages i think, could be in the international bestseller list for soo many weeks.

Ok, so i picked up this book, or bought this book for $16.10 and every cent of it was worth it! This is one of the best first person narrative book ive ever read! Its a surprise that an author could really come up with a story based on an autistic boy and narrate it first hand! Its such a wonder and in an amazement that he could right in such vivid details on the mind of an autistic person. What is an autistic person? HAve you watched Rainman, featuring Dustin Hoffman as the austistic person? If you get the idea, this book tells you basically how an autistic mind works and narrates in such a beautiful piece of story that would surely awaken you emotions from the depths of your heart. Truly, throughout the book, ive felt happiness, sadness, anger and even fear! Amazing...

This book deserves a 5 out of 5 and truly deserves the title of International Bestseller!

What a relief, what a relief... WHAT A RELIEF!!

Oh my!! The paper was surprising not that difficult after all!! Question on second order rate law derivation, i could do it!! I memorised that damn thing over and over again and that 12 marks is sooo gifted!! The whole section on Haber Process ARGH!! I didnt expect to come out as ONE whole section! I knew how to do all the questions!! Give away marks!! HAH! And the one of Arrhenius Equation! OMG!! I thought i did it wrong but i checked with the formula: I WAS RIGHT!! 2 main questions was a total give away marks!

As for the other sections, there werent any difficult questions at all! I could do it! But i dont have that much confidence in getting all correct of course. At least have a small chance of getting a B at the very least! oh please please please.. lemme get a B. But whatever it is. At least tonight i can sleep in peace...

Finally, ive found the lyrics!!

Title: Life is like a boat
Artist: Rie Fu
(Bleach anime ending theme)

---

Nobody knows who I really am
I never felt this empty before
And if I ever need someone to come along
Who's gonna comfort me and keep me strong?

We are all rowing the boat of fate
The waves keep on coming and we can't escape
But if we ever get lost on our way
The waves will guide you through another day

Tooku de iki o shiteru
Toome ni natta mitai
Kurayami ni omoeta kedo
Mekaku shisareteta dake

Inori o sasagete
Atarashii hi o matsu
Asayaka ni hikaru umi
Sono hate made e

Nobody knows who I really am
Maybe they just don’t give a damn
But if I ever need someone to come along
I know you will follow me and keep me strong

Hito no kokoro wa utsuri yuku
Mukedashitaku naru
Tsuki wa mata atarashii shuuki de
Fune o tsureteku

And every time I see your face
The oceans heave up to my heart
You make me wanna strain at the oars
And soon I can see the shore

Ah, I can see the shore?
When will I see the shore?

I want you to know who I really am
I never thought I’d feel this way towards you
And if you ever need someone to come along
I will follow you and keep you strong

Tabi wa mada tsuzuiteku
Odayaka na hi mo
Tsuki wa mata atarashii shuuki de
Fune o terashiasu

Inori o sasagete
Atarashii hi o matsu
Asayaka ni hikaru umi
Sono hate made

And every time I see your face
The oceans heave up to my heart
You make me wanna strain at the oars
And soon I can see the shore

Unmei no mune o kogi
Nami wa tsugi kara tsugi e to

The Man in the MRT.

Yesterday for no apparent reason, i went to town!! OMG!! I felt soo bad! Exam period and i still go Orchard Road, walk walk, see anything new and all. I went myself, i felt guilty after that. Im supposed to study my physical chem and apparently it turns me off and i got fed up and i just went to Orchard Road. I told you that ive never been to orchard for a long time. Well i finally went and I noticed quite a number of changes.

Christmas decorations along the Orchard Road is up, though not finished yet. The upgrade on wisma atria has been completed and you can lots of alfresco cafes along the great walkway. It makes me wanna sit down at those cafe and have my favourite beverage, sit down and soak up the ambience, observe people walking up and down. But another time perhaps. There are some big statues, some form of art being placed along the walkway. I didnt take a look at what it symbolises but its very... blockish. Abstract art is NOT my forte.

Anyway, on the way to Orchard, via MRT, i was sitting down (btw, i bought my physical chem notes to read on the way, so its not too bad ya?) and this young man quite handsome looks soo exhausted. He was dozing up but not that kind of person where their head would drop suddenly. No, he looked very exhausted and he tried really hard to keep himself awake. You can see by his eyes that he is contantly slipping in and out of slumberland. i dunno what he did before, but he looked very exhausted. The most peculiar thing about this guy is that i recognized him! Ive seen him many occasions but during that time, i could not recall where ive seen him. The only time i could recall was in the mrt. That encounter yesterday wasnt the first. Certainly ive seen him around lately. And i started to think. Where did i recognized this guy? I thought really hard and its difficult upon closer inspection because he was exhausted and he looked very different, yet somehow familiar. And i thought and thought. Yes! thats right! He works in Ya Kun Kaya toast at Causewaypoint!! Thats where i first saw him and on many occasions there, especially at night, because i used to go there very often to have kaya toast and a cup of tea. He works there and its funny to see a him working at Ya Kun Kaya Toast franchise, because all the other tenants are all old aunties and uncles serving the toast and making the toasts and writing down orders and he is the only young chap there!

When the train reached at Novena, he dropped off there, but before he dropped off, he looked at me, sort of a sleepy and nonchalant way and i looked at him. We look at each other. And then he smiled at me. I was surprised. I frowned and then i smiled, because maybe he him recognized me as a regular customer at Ya Kun. Then he got off the train. I was quite surprised because i didnt expect him to recognize me for he serves hundreds of people everyday and sees new people every day. For him to recognize a customer, he must have really good memory...

So long never go town...

Just finished revising my IMB, now i have to revise my physical chem. Ill be revising my physical chem today and tomorrow and the first half of the day on tuesday. The second half will be imb and then wednesday is the paper. Scary....

Im not too afraid of IMB but im am really terrified of physical chem. I dunno lah.. I seem to have a keen ability to absorb concepts and fundamentals pretty well and generally be able to see the whole picture, but when it comes to numbers, formulas and equations, i cannot grasp the concept. Because formulas and equations are meant to facilitate your calculation and how to derive your answers and more often than not, it is often thought and emphasised on the formulas and equations but not what it represents or the concept behind why it should be done this way. In many occasions my concepts are understandings are full of holes. This is also applies for maths. I dunno, i think one side of the brain is weaker than the other. Processing of numbers is something i really lack. LOL! Sooo funny..

anyway... soo long never town, like as in orchard road. I think ive never been to town for like 1 and a half months already. With the exams around the corner and me in a tertiary education, i have less and less time to go out to town and see what are latest buzz happening in town, stuff like that. Im a very urban person. Someone asked me if i like to detach myself from civilisation and live in some countryside where your nearest neighbour is 2 km away, or in a suburbun town where the population of the town is less than 20 thousand people and the nearest major city is 200 km away. Id say no! nonononono! I dont mind living for a little while, but to transform my lifestyles 360 degrees is a nono for me. Im a very urban person. I like tall buildings, skyscrapers, city like environment. Its hard for me to explain the reasons, because there are alot of reasons that comes with it.

When it comes to holidays, if i get to travel by myself, or with my friends, i would always choose a city. Here are some of the cities id like to visit in order of importance...

Tokyo, Japan
Seoul, Korea,
Sydney, Australia (again)
Toronto, Canada
New York City, USA
Los Angeles, USA
Paris, France
Frankfurt, Germany

Nice condominium...

Today, i was supposed to spent the whole day studying for my upcoming exams, but having heard that my relatives are moving house to a new condominium, called Cherry Garden, it was simply too hard to give it a miss.

I followed my parents to the condominium, together with my relative and i must say, the condominium is not that big. The building are no more than 4 to 5 storeys high, and they have a cosy and lovely inner compound with a moderate sized swimming pool and is nicely shaped. The condomnium is reasonably built. The layout of the condominium is beautiful, albeit small i must say. There are different layouts, different number of rooms. After we visited the unit which my relative bought, we went to take a look at the penthouse of that condominium. The layout of the whole penthouse is the same as that my relative bought, except for the additiong of an open air roof top area, that can be accessed by a spiral staircase, jutted out of the building. It really nice to be on top of the roof. you can relax there, do barbeque, and lots of stuff there.

Penthouse for the particular condo, from what i heard is about 500K. that is reasonable for a small sized area with a rooftop garden.

Fascinated by looking at condominiums, i told my dad to take me to a showroom at this particular condominium in the heart of orchard, called The Light. Ive passed by that condominium soo many times and whenever i look at it, i am constantly in AWE!!! The building is 20 storeys and its no ordinary condominium. The whole building when you look at the front part of the condominium is built on glass!! Its really magnificent. Its as if the whole building is nothing but glass! the design and architecture is top notch.

So my family to went orchard and we were lucky that a showroom is still going on.

Upon entering the enterance of the condominium, we went to the underground carpark, spacious with fountain walls by the side. We were then directed to a visitors carpark by this person who waited at the lobby of the condominium. After that we went to the temporary office of the showroom. We were greeted by this young man, in this room, along with a scale model of the overall building and the different layouts of the apartments units of the condominium, 2 room, 3 room 4 room, and penthouses. the scale model of the building was FANTASTIC! It looks really nice with all the transparent glass 50% covering the entire front part of the building. After brief introduction, were then went into one of the units.

I must emphasize this is one of THE BEST condominium i have EVER seen!!

We then went to the lift lobby of one of the 2 buildings. I was damn shockeD!! The lift has biometric sensors on them!! Meaning that to gain access of the lift and into the apartments, you present your fingerprints or iris scan for verification and along your password given!! SOO HI CLASS!!! SOO HI TECH!! No keys! No cards! all you need is a fingerprint and password. The ultimate privacy you can achieve!!

Why is there a biometric sensor at the lift lobby? Because upon entering the lift and into the apartment, once you get out of the lift, at the very entrance of the lift, is already YOUR corridor and to YOUR living room!!! This means that the lift is yours!!! Its your very own lift, but its shared by 20 other units on 20 floors. Get it? The lift stops at your floor, and that floor has only one apartment unit! When the door opens, VIOLA! you see your living room at the end of the corridor!

But thats not it... upon entering the apartment, i was shocked, frozen, flabberghasted, overwhelmed, rooted to the ground, by the SHEER LUXURY of the apartment!!! I cannot describe what i see but my god, the layout is fantastic!! OMG OMG OMG!! ITs like living in a 6 star hotel suite!! The furnishing, the lighting, the ambience, this is the pinnicle of luxury living!! The balcony is all made of glass, spacious. The living room is huge, with a dining room behind it. An extra room with a bathroom, and this room acts like a recreational room. there are 2 bedrooms, and the master bedroom as a bathroom, only a man could ever dream of. ARGH! The words that im using is doing injustice to what i see! You must see to believe it. After that experience, i couldnt stop thinking and fantasizing about it.

But thats not all!! You know alll the lighting and curtin of all the rooms can be electronically controlled, using an lcd panel mounted on every room!? ITS SOO DAMN HIGH TECH! Just touch of the button and the lights of differnt areas you chose will on and off. The curtins slides in and out and you can program the lighting such that its motion sensored! YES!! Motion sensored! When you walk to a room, it switches on automatically!! The curtins can be program to open and close at what time of the day! omg!

The kitchen is modernly furnished with all the latest and hi tech facilities. The kitchen is really well done! Dishwasher unit, oven, and whatever you have lah... dunno how to say..

I fell soo good being there! When i was there, i just couldnt contained my eagerness and my excitement!

AFter exploring and the you man telling all the smart features of the house, like fiber optic connection on every room, broadband excess, and stuff like that, panic buttons (emergency buttons to call security guards) and all, my dad asked how big is this apartment.

The apartment we visited was about 1500sq metres. thats roughly the size of my house right now. There are other sizes like, 800sqm for 2 bedroom, 1200sqm 1400 sqm 2000sqm 3500 sqm and the penthouses, 5200sqm that is the biggest offered!! 5200sqm!! can you imagine!? 3 storeys! the third being roof top garden! thats slightly less than 3 times the size of my house right now!!

AFter that we asked the price of the apartment. OMG i was in shocked! make a guess how much the apartment cost at about 1500sqm...

it is.... drumroll.............................................................. AT 1500 sqm............... $2 500 000!!

HAHAH!! 2.5 million!! 2500 000 bucks!! sing dollars, cold hard cash!!!

Each sq m cost approx $1600!!

I nearly fainted when i heard the figure.

The penthouse costs about $5 000 000 starting price!

i have the brochure. anybody interested i can bring the brochure and show it to you...

SHIT!!
This is the second time im writing this and this toopid blog doesnt update. Anyway again!
hmm... What did i say just now?
Oh ya, before i begin, i just want to say thank you mizael for clearing my doubts about myself and providing a good and enlightening conversation with him. Thank you!

"Nobody knows who I really am,
Maybe they just don't give a damn
But if i ever need someone to come along,
I know you would follow me and keep me strong."

Anyway, you now this fasting month and all, Ive come up a list of places and food to eat and savour once this fasting month is over.

Sakae sushi! Chicken Teriyaki Bento
Ramen Ten! Try many types of ramen!
Nasi Lemak at Adam Road
MacDonalds
Burgerking
Ponderosa
Fish & Co.!! Grilled Salmon!!
Desa Kartika!
Swensen! Apple Crumble!!
Haagen Daz!!!
Auntie Anne's Pretzel!
Starbucks Coffee!! Frappocino with caramel and whipcream!!
Durian Puffs!!
Famous Amos!! ARGH!!

okok enough or im going to have to excercise soo much harder just to maintain my weight and shape.
anyway, to all non muslims out there, i just want to share somethign with you.
As you know, during the fasting month, we buy dates to eat as part of our nutritional diet, because it provides us with lots of energy and other nutritional supplements that we may lack during that month.
There is many types of dates, shrivelled, juicy, fat, golden yellow, ultra black, look like kazhuak, some dunno look like what, small, big, sweet, not soo sweet. But my favorite is and there is only one type that are like.

It is... drumrollll.... Dates with almonds!!

Yes!! Dates with almonds. What do i mean by that, i dunno whether those dates are genetically engineered or what, but i dont care. The point is that instead of the seeds that you have to spit it out after you eat you dates, they substitute the seeds with almonds in the dates!! Its sooo delicious. The sweetness of the dates couple with the crunchiness and nutty tastes of the almonds! It can really melt tastebuds, and you can almost hear them saying "we want more we want more" Really, its that delicious!! Furthermore, its really easy to eat. Just pop in your mouth and and viola! Everything is edible!!

However those dates are really expensive dates and it can be quite hard to come by. Normally you would buy 500g of normal dates worth 4 to 6 bucks a pack? or even less at the supermarket. But those special dates cost 12 to 14 bucks per 500g!! ITs really expensive. However, to all non muslim friends out there, if you want something unique and sort of a once is a year delicacy, like mooncakes, GET YOURSELF A PACK! You wont regret it!

My practicals.. ive screwed up...

Past 3 days, i had my practicals. You know what, I screwed them up. simple questions, can get it right, simple concepts, cant explain. Feel soo frustrated. Is this a test from God? Is this to test my patience? Or to wake me up from my own little dreamworld? Is this a sign? A sign that im going to do badly in my upcoming exams, if i dont study hard now?

I got this from eileens blog... and its an eye opener..

gRoUp b2

Your dreams and ambitions are much important for you and you can do everything to fulfill your dreams.

Im not sure about this, i think this is quite true, however, my dreams and ambitions are important only a certain extent. However, it may be true that i put myself and my ambition ahead of other things, but i feel and i constantly look back in what i lack, and hopefully not to be blinded by my ambitions are i ever lose self respect and dignity. I will always look and consider what are more important to me at that moment other than my dreams and ambitions.

Love is much valuable in your life but you always search for someone perfect. You hardly trust someone.

Is fool's hope to find someone perfect. However, yeah thats me, i know its impossible to find the perfect person for you, but i think its true for me. Unconsciously, i may "sift" through my peers and unconsciously divide them. The trusting part is true. Dont get me wrong, when i dont trust someone, doesnt me i alienate that person and be paranoid and this of a thousand ways to backstab you. No, its just that i know, that people can let you down, thats why i always try to do stuff by myself, not be a burden for someone, in the hopes that nothing wrong will happened. However, if i do need someones trust, and if that trust is gained, i appreciate with all my heart.

Your friends are really important for you but normally you hide a lot from them.

That is an eye opener. Ive never really thought of this in another perspective. Friends are really important to me but i think, for my friends to think like that, i guess i have to open up more. Now i see myself, and its true, alot of my personalities and my fortes are hidden alot from them. I dunno why.

You are a deep thinker you always study the negative view as well as positive.

Yes i am truly a deep thinker. I love pleasant, deep and thoughtful conversations. I think alot and a myriad of things and its very hard to tame it. If left alone ( alot of occassions) doing nothing, my mind seems not to wander aimlessly, but to think hard at something and it can be anything under the sun. Most of the time, youll see not really daydreaming, but thinking hard, having that serious look, probably looking stressed.

You can lead a happy life with a person for whom you care a lot these days.

When someone i care is happy, im truly happy for that person. Whom do i care alot these days? Syafiq. He has gone through alot of pain and ordeal, that i rarely come across in a person. But im really happy, he has overcome it and i feel that my effort in easing abit the tension that he has gone through was really worth it. Now i see him smiling and my heart smiles with him.

nothing

Today, i studied my Inorganic Chemistry practical in the afternoon and then abit on the Japanese roleplay. At night, i studied alittle bit on Microbiology Practical.

Anyway, nothin much goes on today. It was boring. I lead a truely boring life. So boring...

Just now for fun, i did a comprehensive stock take on my collection of animes. All the dvds and cds that ive burn for the anime. Guess what? I have a total of 55 different titles as of today, 11 of which are still incomplete, still downloading and waiting for latest releases of it. Wow, i didnt know i have this much titles of anime. Im soo proud of it...

If i were to combine calculate the number of eps downloaded from ALL the animes, it would total approximately.... ~drumroll~ 1300 episodes!!!

YES!! ive downloaded approximate 1300 eps of anime from the internet!

you see... the internet is a powerthing medium. With great power, comes great responsibility... NOT!!! muahha!!

Although ive downloaded that much, i still have not watched half of what ive downloaded. This is means that i download faster than i can watch.. lol!!!

I couldnt list them here right now, as my handwritten list is still not alphabatized yet. According to Animenfo.com website and its list of 100 top anime of all time based on viewer's ratings, i have 33 titles out of the top 100 listed on that website. Which means that 33 that i possessed are actually the top 100 animes of all time.

Ya i forgot, today, day 2 of my fasting and today my parents ordered for me Chicken Teriyaki Pizza from Pizza Hut!! Yum yum!! I finished the whole pan that serves 2 to 3 person with the chicken drumroll and a kfc chicken that my mum couldnt finish. Talk about hunger! ooh.. very satisfying... I did it without sweat...

Forum Discussion with Minister...

Ok, i just got back from the forum discussion with the minister, 2 and a half hours. There were other students, representatives from Junior colleges, NUS, NTU, SMU and all the polytechnics.
The question of the forum was.. Are Singapore's youth apathethic?

Although i didnt actively participate in the forum by giving my own opinion and such, however, the JC student were the one, actively participating. They were the one who provided opinions on many issues, like politics, freedom of speech, education and the likes.

I wouldnt say its boring, because this is my first time attending such forum discussion. On the plus side, i think, after attending this forum discussion, it has provided me with a greater insight on some of the concerns youth's face ragarding the government of singapore and also provided me an alternative perspective on what the government is doing for the country with the current challenges that singapore is going through. Since the main topic was about how apathetic singapore's youths are nowadays, alot of issues were discusses and analysed. For example, many issues like whether education the government has structured for the country is the cause for our apathetic attitude towards singapore as a whole, or whether politics is playing a part. Issues like freedom of speech and elections and also how to bind singapore's youth together for a common cause at this point of time when we often takes things for granted, can come about.

Nothing much to say besides that.

However, before i went to singapore polytechnic for the forum discussion, my dad took me to BioPolis which was quite near the school and i had alot of time before the registration starts. So when i got there, OMG!!! Its sooo freaking impressive. Its really a world class, life sciences hub!! There are soo many buildings that houses all the labs of different companies that have moved in like Novartis and Glaxosmithkline!! When we enter the compound of the all the buildings, the first sign i saw on one of the buildings was Novartis! So big and grand. The building is quite an art and its really nice looking. There are many buildings and they name all the building uniquely, like Proteas, Chromos, Matrix and Nanos. When you get to the heart of the all the buildings, and you look up, you can see lots of skybridges linking to other buildings, all made of glass! And you look up, its like a city within a city. The first floor, has all the cafes, and restaurants and eating outlet and its like Shenton Way, minus the tall buildings. OMG!! I was soo impressed!

After seeing the place with my own eyes, im certain that one of my long term goals of my career is to work in biopolis, in any one of the life sciences companies that have moved in to the BioPolis or any other future companies that are going to move in. Besides, they are still expanding i think, i can see land making way for future developments. ah... im soo excited and it has given me inspiration to strive so that i can make my dream come true once more. ( the first dream that came true was being in a life science course)

Confessions of a lonely boy PART II

Whenever people say with who you watched movie with, who you went out with, who you went this and that with. I often reply as "I went alone" and most of the time 90% of the time, i would get the same expression. "Alone?! Never go out with your friends ah?" " Not sian meh, alone..." Its always this 2 main expression. Sometimes when i reply with that phrase, thier eyebrows will raise and look at me with those 2 pitying eyes.

Thinking back, ive done alot of things myself, alone, without anybody. I dunno, i got used to it. I dunno if thats a bad thing or not. Im not being anti social or anything. Its just that, sometimes, i feel that im being a burden to all my friends. Friends is all i have next to someone that i can never hope to get ever... and sometimes, i get this feeling that my expectations of them are sometimes to high, that its merely a dream to achieve it. They have thier own life to live, and for me to intrude into thier lives as such just like that. I feel that its just not right. What can i do? I have no one to accompany me. They have other stuff to do. Im all by myself.

Sometimes when i talk to my friends, i feel like im in a totally different worlds. They can share jokes that they have known, they can share funny experiences with one another, and they can have a nice chat about what is going on in thier life with thier own peers. And when i look back at myself... is there anything interested going on recently with me and my friends. Its like, ive got nothing to say and that a simple hello and goodbye makes it soo weird thats its even more alieneting to say it than just meeting that person for a looong time. Ive had this experience before and prolly some of my friends have noticed it. Sometimes i would just sit aruond with my friends and i would rarely talk. While my group of friends would talk alot of things and all the things that they have shared together, yesterday, last week, or even last month. And how about me? Im just sitting there, listening to they conversation, 70% of the time, i dont their jokes, because the incident that they were takling about, i was no there, and their conversations, i dont understand at all, i have to end up asking " What are you guys talking about?" I feel like im soo empty.

Confessions of a lonely boy PART I...

<------------------------------------------------ This is how im feeling right now...

Hmm.. okok.. some of you may be wondering... why i never update that often anymore. Just to tell you that... ive hadnt any great experience to share to begin with and i hadnt had that much inspiration and the will to write anything interesting. All this while has been about me me me. Me, my life soo boring. come to think of it.. the past 2 weeks, have anything interesting happened?

Yeah, a new phone ok? And then we have school, normal lessons. uhuh... Anything interesting happening around me and my friends, nope. Anything interesting going on in my school? Nyadah. Any hot juicy gossip passing around? Zip! nothing at all... And thats what im feeling right now... Boredom. Exams are coming and im not being serious at all. Im supposed to be studying but look right here, im watching animes, and surfing the net, going out swimming. Swimming was ok, i went alone, no one to ask to come along anyway. Oh, now i just remembered, but i dunno when that took place. This past 2 weeks, time has been a blur for me.

Yeah, so as i was saying, i was with Cho Ching in the library. I think it was a thursday? Cant remember. Anyway, yeah.. we were studying microbiology A but after a while we were talking and not studying. How bad am i, how boring it was to be in the library scouring through your notes and nothing goes in. So off we talked, and i was surprised that we had a pleasant conversation.

We talked alot during that time, and everything under the sun. All im saying is that on that day, Cho Ching actually made my day by engaging in conversations. Ive rarely had intelligent conversations with someone and its nice to know who you can talk to when you just feel like talking without fear or trepidation. Its like i feel welcomed when i talked to him. He converse with me with nothing to hide and i like this kind of people. Who give attention to someone who is talking, and im not saying plain attention, i mean deep attention and then giving intelligent responses. Its a rare find to have someone to really listen to you and understand how you feel about something. Now i wouldnt have we have alot of things in common but i dunno... there is something special in him.

Other than him, i dont mind engaging in conversations with Wei San. Although she tends to talk more and not listen to you time and again, but when you talk to her and she pours out everything that she agrees on you on a particular subject, its nice to really sit back and listen. Sometimes, just by listening, you can sort out your own inner conflicts and hopefully find something he or she have in common.

That is why, if im left alone, maybe while having lunch, or any other time when im not doing anything, i think alot. And its true. A person with no siblings, tend to imagine things that are beyond someones comprehension or expectations. Like for example, if im left alone, i would be thinking on a myriad of scenarios on basically anything on whats going to happened in the future. And you know why, i have no boundaries. Talking is the only that can set my boundaries right. I love to talk. Not just plain blabbering or mindless conversations, but intelligent ones. One who uses his or her Emotional Quotient (EQ). I feel relaxed when i do that. How i would wish, i would be able to sit in the cafe, or in an alfresco stlyled cafe, drinking my favourite beverage that the cafe has and just talk to my friends.

At one time i have to release my emotional turmoil. And its hard to do it because its rare to find the right moment at the right time of the right person to talk to you when you needed most.
Nobody knows who i really am...i never felt this empty before and if i ever need someone to come along... who's gonna comfort me to keep me strong?

(and by the way, i will still never forget what the class has done to me, helping me in need and to syafiq, for giving the most sincerest "thank you" ive ever recieved in my entire life. Im glad to be of service...)

Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow!!

nothing

Hot! just off the Press!!

I just came back from watching the above movie, Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow, starring Jude Law, Gweneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. I watched at Sun Plaza, Eng Wah Cinemas!

Okok, ive got alot of things to say about the movie, since this is the most anticipated movie so far this year! Let me calm down and organise my thoughts...

Ok.. first off, this is how the story goes:

The movie, i would categorised as Science Fiction. But more accurately, Alternate History, meaning that the movie takes place in real events around the world in the past with some alterations to its history. This movie, takes place post WWI. However, the world is plague by these mysterious huge robots and mechanical birds that terrorises cities throughout the world. When these mechanical robots attack, they dont destroy the city until it ceases to exist, instead the robots, masterminded by this mysterious person called Dr. Totenkopf, attack the cities for one sole purpose. To get equipments ranging from power generators, to uranium, to oil from these countries. Once they get what they wanted, they would leave, leaving no trace of their origin. He is building something that will destroy earth.

Polly Perkins (Gweneth Paltrow) is a newspaper reporter working for The Chronicles in New York City. She was for a while investigating on this group of scientists who has more or less a relation to their project that they were embarking on 30 years ago. However she realised that one by one, they were either getting killed or went missing. So as she was called upon the last surviving scientist, the scientist told her that he is in danger and that Dr. Totenkopf, whoever that is, is searching for something that he possessed. However during the meeting, the city was under attack by robots.

That is where Sky Captain (Jude Law) comes in. He is part of a mercenery group whose sole aim is to track down who sent these robots and to neutralise them if they happened to attack the city.

And on the story went about Sky Captain named Joe i think, and Polly Perkins, ever hungry quest to find out about the missing scientists who are related to this Dr. Totenkopf. They went to many places, finally reaching tibet, and Shangri La, the legendary place of paradise in, on a plateau surrounded by snowcapped mountains. Their sole purpose is to stop watever this evil doctor is building that is dubbed, the countdown machine.

so this is just a generally the outline of the whole story. I would not indulge further than that for the sake of spoiler issues. I will also not tell what that evil doctor is up to as soon youll find out about it when you watch it in theaters.

Now, on to the technical aspects of the movie. The movie was directed by Kerry Conran, in his first ever debut film and i must say that new directors like him, certainly has the guts to do something this big! The special effects, the overall atmosphere of the film, making it look like a classic, yet it is not, really deserve this director credits for his incredible work. Watching this movie is like watching a classical movie in the 40's, yet feeling modern with all the special effects and all the modern action. It really tingles your visual senses and this is what makes the movie unique. It lets you open your eyes to feast on the incredible special effects that feels soo natural.

Furthermore, the movie is that kind of feeling like as if you are reading a comic book. Im serious! It was certainly a unique experience. Its like watching the pages of the comic book flipped by on the big screen! It was a wonderful wonderful feeling. The movie setting that takes place post WWI was depicted fairly accurately. Youll see planes that are of that age and youll also see technologies that were used during that era but also have that modern look with all the robots and mechanical birds etc.

Not only does the atmosphere of the movie makes this movie great, but also the imagery of the entire movie. What do i mean by that? You know, when watching a sci fi movie, or a movie with lots of special effects, say, Star Wars, you expect to have loads of special effects AND colour. However, this movie is one of the most unique movie ive ever watched in terms of the post production of the colour of the entire movie. Let me give you an example:

This is a particular scene in the movie,

Anatomy of a Shot:
Early in the film, Sky Captain (Jude Law) and Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) break into a lab looking for clues to the disappearance of several notable world scientists, and find more (and less) than they bargained for.

In this shot, the actors play the scene against a blue screen.

nothing

A computer-generated 3D virtual set, with tiny pachyderm, but no actors.

nothing

A complete black-and-white composite of the shot.

nothing

The final shot, with color washed over the black-and-white composite to create the film's unique look.

nothing

See what i mean. you dont get to see the picture in its full spectrum of colours as vivid as you might expect. Instead, you get a soft yellow brownish, tinge to the picture, making it look like you are watching a classic throughout the entire movie. Amazing isnt it!? Its certainly a break from all the movies that youve watched and all the same of colour and same all special effects. It pays to break from that routine once in a while. Something of this fresh concept couldnt get any fresher.

Another aspect that i like to bring up in this movie that i noticed in addition to using the above techinique to make this movie unique is lighting. I cannot stress this enough but let me tell you, this movie, has one of its most excellent use of lighting ive ever seen. Certain scenes are generally quite dark, however, the use of lighting at specific spots for atmosphere is crucial in dark scenes and this movie has perfected that technique! For example, you know that this movie has a classical feel to it and when they act, the lights normally gets focused in the areas around the eyes to emphasize the person's emotion. The excellent use of lighting has really made this movie an eye candy for audiences and one that catches my attention easily.

Let me give you an example, in this picture when Polly Perkins is aboard his plane:

nothing
Here you can see the excellent use of lighting to show the face of Polly Perkins as well as the rays of light coming through, hitting Joe's jaw. The lighting looks very natural yet it emphasized soo accrately.

Another example:
nothing
Another good example is when both of them are hiding and peering at something. Not much light enters, but you can see that the light focues on the upper portion of the girls eye to emphasize trepidation in her as well as her cheeks as well as her hair that shines. Behind her, Joe, you can see the subtle use of lighting in him just enough to see the generall ouline of his nose, his forehead and lips. You can see excellent use of lighting.

The actors assigned for the roles are perfect. Gweneth Paltrow as a reporter, certainly looks like one and acts like one. Jude Law, as a charimastic, cool, handsome and skillful pilot, nickenamed, Sky Captain and lots more other casts are just as fantastic. Its every person's dream to be like him, cool, charismatic, but not egoistic. I certainly feel that way, and this movie has accomplished that job of luring audiences to be like anyone of the maltitude of actors that youll see in this movie.

Lastly, i would like to comment on the soundtrack and music. Normally i dont do this because its either the soundtrack doesnt make enough impact on the movie, or its not applicable. But this i must say, that the soundtrack, though not my favourite its really fitting for this kind of movie. Fully orchestrated, loud and has that patriotic tone, almost that kind of soundtrack you hear in Spiderman 2, where youll hear, good truimph and evil loses that sort of tune. Generally it really complimented the movie ALOT and adds to the overall ambience to the movie. Kudos! I might buy the album.

I rate this movie 5 out of a maximum 5 stars! Must watch! This movie must AT LEAST be nominated for best special effects in next year's Oscar.

NEWater plant visit!

Today our class and some other class went to the NEWater plant visitors' center! It was a great excursion, one of the very few i did enjoy and one of the most educational of all. It was truly a great NE eduational excursion as i gained alot of insight, on our water supply and governments pragmatic approach in seeking new ways to increase our water supply for our increasing needs.

When we got there, it was somewhere near Changi. the visitors center was really great in terms of design and its friendly approach in welcoming visitors to the visitor's center. When you get there youll be greeted with really nice looking fountains with koi fish. When you get to the main area, youll then be greeted by this ambasaddor, called WAVE on the plasma screen. Its really professional done and world class standard. The layout of the whole exhibition reminds me of when i was in australia. I went to this science and technology museum. Really fantastic, really huge. It showcases some of the key technological turning points the world experienced, throughout human history. You start with the stone ages, then on to ancient civiliasations and then the fall of rome, and then the dark ages, on to medieval ages, and its invention of gunpowder, paper, and some machinery used during that time. After that on to the industrial age, where youll see lots of machinery, goes on the other areas, like medicine and onto flight, and then it gets more modern, and then onto age of computer and IT and then lastly, the space age. The space age is the most interesting.

Anyway back to the excursion. The visitors center has many areas. First we went to the main area, where youll be greeted, and then onto a theater, almost looked like cinema. We watched a very short clip on what is NEWater and how its being processed, briefly and also what impact does it have to us Singaporeans. And then we went to another area where we played some interactive games on plasma screen. That was really fun and insightful. After that we went to take alook at the plant itself! the plant itself was really an eye opener. We get to see all the big pipes and its processes and also some of the equipment used in the plant.

The whole journey from start to finish took about less than an hour and a half. After that we had back to school and finally home...

New phone! New Movie Review! Renewed life!!

YIPPIE!! I got my new phone!! The Sony Ericsson K700i!! YESYESYES!! Finally after more than 3 years of possessing the old phone, its time for a new makeover!

The K700i isnt the best in everything nor the stylish or most expensive in town. Got it after 3 months in the market, i must say that K700i and me instantly "click" the moment i saw it being showcased. From that moment on, i knew that the k700i has that X factor that i have been waiting for.

Modest in terms of features and a little pricey, the features in the phone are just perfect for my current use. Its sylish design and with neat features offers me a wide range of usage and flexiblity. VGA camera, video recording capabilities, audio recording capabilities, radio, mp3 player, large screen and a 40 mb memory all packed into a phone. Ive signed up for WAP and GPRS and not to mention got a free bluetooth wireless headset that comes as a package. I also bought the usb cable to hook up to my phone with the pc, so that i dont have to use WAP or GPRS to download contents like wallpapers and ringtones, i download to the computer and then to the phone. Its that simple and saves a lot of money. Up to now ive already loaded lots of funny tunes in my phone and some wallpapers that ive grabbed from my collection of pictures in my pc. Its accompanying softwares like mms home studio, image editor and audio editor give me extra flexiblity to edit pictures as well as music, be it midi, mp3 of wav. When im satisfied all i need is a click of a button and viola! the content is inside the phone! Its soo cool! I really like the phone.

Ok enough of me bragging about the phone.

A few days ago, i watched White Chicks:

nothing

One phrase to describe this movie: Its FREAK-ING hilarious!!

What do you get when you cross 2 black cops disguising as 2 rich white bitches? LOADS OF LAUGHTER!

When i watched this movie, i really cant stop laughing from the begining of the movie, right till the end of it. In my seat i was laughing my hearts out.

The story goes like this. This 2 black cops previously had an assignment to catch a drug dealer. However thier cover was blown, since they caught the wrong person and in the end, didnt manage to catch the real person. On the verge of being fired by the polic chief, they seek out to once again prove themselves that they are the best team in the police department. Given another assignment, a meager one which is to escort this 2 rich girls, sister in relation from the airport to the hotel. However, they were involved in a minor accident and both the girls face had cuts and bruises. Stunned, the girls refused to go to numerious prestigeous auction party, balls, and also shopping while showing they beautiful scarred faces to the media, the 2 black cops called in a professional make up artist and prosthetics surgeons to transformed them into white chicks, much like the original ones. They have to do it or face a sack from the chief because, the girls have to be present in all the events and also to lure a kidnapper that has threatened the girls.

And thus the story goes one how to managed to keep it under cover, all the while dressing like girls and acting like them, in a bitchy sort of way and its totally hilarious! Some of the actions that they do were soo unpredictable and this movie is really a refresher from all the action movies that ive watch. this comedy is a must watch!

I give this movie a 4 out of 5.

PALS!!

Okok, sorry for not updating, dont have time to do so. Anyway, these few days, have been very involved in PALS, Promoters and Links and a whole lot of activities just came pouring over me. First of all, the Chinese Orchestra concert, and that the PALS forum that all year ones had to attend on wednesday and yesterday the Celebrity basketball event held in school in nyp sports all. Yeah very busy and ive no mood to study because my daily routines has been broken. they have ruined my groove!! Anyway, im trying really hard to reignite the mood of studying again and i hope its soon enough.

Just to give you a rundown on what i did during the pals forum. The pals forum is more like a day camp for me. It starts at 2 ends at around 9. nothing much actually, pretty boring i guess, during the first half of the forum. In the afternoon we had this campus run, where we are supposed to go to each and every school in nyp and to listen to lecturers give a short talk on what thier school is providing for the students, their courses, how is life like in that school ect... I wouldnt say its boring, but its very draggy. There are soo many schools and we have to go to every one of them. AFter that done, we went back to the lecture theater that was the original location on where the pals were and we had dinner. After dinner 2 more games, one the egg drop game and balloon popping game. The egg drop game was OK but it was hilarious, especially in my group. We created this huge package with the egg inside surround by water balloons. That done we were suppose to test it whether our egg would break if we were to drop it from the 4th floor. It did and the package burst with a loud bang!! Water splashed everywhere and we had a good laugh!

The balloon popping game is simple. Get a balloon, get a partner, tie the balloon with a string attached onto the hand of yours and your partner and pop other peoples balloon without yours being popped at. quite fun but my partner and I werent the finalist.

Then it was prize giving ceremony and then go home..
